The Golden Ring, Russia treasure
Vladimir, Tver, Kostroma, Sergiev Posad, Murom, Pereslavl, Suzdal, Uglich, Alexandrov, Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky, Borisogleb, Ples: these are the Russian cities that make up the so-called “Golden Ring”. Thirteen cities and historical characteristics, located northeast of the capital Moscow, in the Zalesye area, which offer visitors through the innumerable churches, monasteries and Kremlin present, all art, history and culture of an entire nation.
We are in what may be considered the cradle of Russian civilization, the banks of the Volga, in the middle of old town, once rich and powerful rulers, who retain a high architectural value and beyond. Located away from large cities, in fact, the region offers landscapes of incomparable beauty, thanks to the presence of abundant rivers and extensive forests. The Golden Ring cities are, in fact, a genuine insight into the social reality of the Russian province, away from the luxury and magnificence of the capital, as well as from contamination of the West: in essence, the rediscovery of the pure spirit of a people deep roots.
In particular, very striking is the town of Yaroslavl, founded in 1010 by the prince who gave its name and tells the legend, slew a bear, which subsequently became its own symbol. Yaroslavl was a great historical and religious center, as evidenced by the many churches, well 85, and the many monuments and monasteries both inside and outside the village citizens. Do not miss about it, the church of the prophet Elijah, particularly its green dome and the interior painted. Worthy of attention, then, is the great Kremlin, extended along the banks of the river Kotorosl. It is precisely this watercourse to give more charm to the city: the river cuts through Yaroslavl, restoring a unique beauty.
Visiting the region, the Golden Ring is therefore possible to rediscover the traditions of the past: local crafts, local markets, fishing, and especially the old houses symbol of Russia. We speak of the “dacha”, typical wooden building located usually near lakes or rivers in dense forests. In short, a real immersion in the wonderful world of Mother Nature.
