South America Motoraid
30,000 km in 60 days
by Georges dal Santo
"From Buenos Aires, first I went through Patagonia to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Then I made a stop back in to see the famous Glacier Perito Moreno and I continued on the path of Che Guevara. Arrived in Chile in the desert driest in the world, the Atacama, I climbed the Andes to the highlands of Bolivia. I went along the lake Titicaca in Peru and I visited Cusco, Machu Picchu, Nazca and Inca museum in Lima. The journey continued from Quito in Ecuador, Bogota in Colombia and Caracas in Venezuela.
I bet by the Caribbean Sea southward through the Amazon to Manaus, where I embarked to go down the homonymous river to Belem on the Atlantic coast of Brazil. Finally I have traveled throughout Brazil by tapping the city of Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Salvador de Bahia, Rio de Janer, Sao Paulo and finally went to see the amazing waterfalls of Iguaçu. Of this extraordinary expedition I wrote a book of 240 pages where the story saw the difficulties and dangers of everyday travel, mechanical problems and wonderful meetings with fellow immigrants found accidentally".
So, briefly, George Dal Santo describes the circumnavigation of South America performed solo in 2008, for a total of 30 thousand kilometers in 60 days aboard his dated BMW K 75. Two months of intense travel with the desire to touch people and landscapes very different from one area to another. Beautiful places but difficult to tackle, which have excited the traveler's heart and filled the author’s eyes, as the pages of this his story.
